Based on a comparison of 170 countries in 2024, Hong Kong ranked the highest in merchandise trade as a share of GDP with 332% followed by Slovenia and United Arab Emirates. On the other end of the scale was Ethiopia with 12.4%, Haiti with 15.2% and Sudan with 17.2%.
