Based on a comparison of 173 countries in 2023, South Sudan ranked the highest in neonatal mortality per 1,000 live births with 40.3 followed by Pakistan and Somalia. On the other end of the scale was Belarus with 0.900, Japan with 0.800 and Singapore with 0.900.
