Historically, youth dependency ratio in Costa Rica reached an all time high of 92.9% in 1963 and an all time low of 27.3% in 2024. When compared to Costa Rica's main peers, youth dependency ratio in Guatemala amounted to 49.7%, 47.1% in Honduras, 43.8% in Nicaragua and 37.9% in Panama in 2024.
Costa Rica has been ranked 118th within the group of 178 countries we follow in terms of youth dependency ratio, 15 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
