Workers' remittances paid fell 32.5% to USD 130 mil in Malawi in 2023, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, workers' remittances paid in Malawi reached an all time high of USD 193 mil in 2022 and an all time low of USD 0.036 mil in 1991. When compared to Malawi's main peers, workers' remittances paid in Mozambique amounted to USD 199 mil, USD 932 mil in South Africa, USD 161 mil in Tanzania and USD 135 mil in Zambia in 2023.
