Historically, wood charcoal production in Japan reached an all time high of 184,284 kt in 1978 and an all time low of 15,000 kt in 2018. When compared to Japan's main peers, wood charcoal production in China amounted to 1,623,733 kt, 60,400 kt in Russia, 9,000 kt in South Korea and 852,000 kt in USA in 2018.
