Based on a comparison of 160 countries in 2024, Luxembourg ranked the highest in imports as a share of GDP with 1.83% followed by Hong Kong and Djibouti. On the other end of the scale was Sudan with 0.013%, Ethiopia with 0.118% and Turkmenistan with 0.125%.

Average imports as a share of GDP reached 0.281% in 2024 in the World according to the National Statistical Office. This is 5.76 % more than in the previous year and 2.91 % more than 10 years ago.
