Which Country Produces the Most Jute?

Based on a comparison of 18 countries in 2022, India ranked the highest in jute production with 1,757,160 tonnes followed by Bangladesh and Cambodia. On the other end of the scale was Myanmar with 10.1 tonnes, Pakistan with 14.1 tonnes and Brazil with 21.0 tonnes.

Total jute production reached 3,503,448 tonnes in 2022 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.2 % more than in the previous year and 1.46 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total jute production reached an all time high of 4,486,769 tonnes in 1985 and an all time low of 1,847,773 tonnes in 1968. The average annual growth amounted to 0.459 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, India, accounted for 50.2 % of jute production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 98.4 % share while the ten largest countries some 100.0 % in 2022.
