Based on a comparison of 168 countries in 2021, Monaco ranked the highest in water productivity in constant PPP GDP per cubic metre of freshwater withdrawals with USD 1,500 followed by Luxembourg and Maldives. On the other end of the scale was Afghanistan with USD 0.806, Madagascar with USD 0.952 and Kyrgyzstan with USD 1.01.

Average water productivity in constant PPP GDP per cubic metre of freshwater withdrawals reached USD 22.2 in 2021 in the World according to World Bank / EIA. This is 9.6 % more than in the previous year.
