Based on a comparison of 140 countries in 2015, Hong Kong ranked the highest in energy imports as of total energy use with 98.7% followed by Malta and Lebanon. On the other end of the scale was South Sudan with -1,058%, Norway with -581% and Angola with -541%.

Average energy imports as of total energy use reached 21.0% in 2015 in the World according to World Bank / EIA. This is 112 % more than in the previous year and 115 % more than 10 years ago.
