Based on a comparison of 174 countries in 2024, Japan ranked the highest in population over 65 years old as a percentage of total population with 30.3% followed by Germany and Italy. On the other end of the scale was United Arab Emirates with 1.23%, Qatar with 2.22% and Mali with 2.46%.
