Total primary coal production rose 7.37% to 26,681 kt in Mongolia in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, total primary coal production in Mongolia reached an all time high of 35,228 kt in 2011 and an all time low of 4,743 kt in 1981. When compared to Mongolia's main peers, total primary coal production in China amounted to 4,376,984 kt, 118,168 kt in Kazakhstan, 2,060 kt in Kyrgyzstan and 409,701 kt in Russia in 2015.
