Total primary coal production rose 6.41% to 83.0 kt in Malawi in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, total primary coal production in Malawi reached an all time high of 101 kt in 2012 and an all time low of 49.6 kt in 2005. When compared to Malawi's main peers, total primary coal production in Mozambique amounted to 7,274 kt, 256,876 kt in South Africa, 282 kt in Tanzania and 220 kt in Zambia in 2015.
