Total coal consumption rose 55.4% to 382 kt in Laos in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, total coal consumption in Laos reached an all time high of 551 kt in 2009 and an all time low of 0.099 kt in 1980. When compared to Laos's main peers, total coal consumption in Cambodia amounted to 763 kt, 4,376,326 kt in China, 37,443 kt in Thailand and 41,650 kt in Vietnam in 2015.

Laos has been ranked 85th within the group of 126 countries we follow in terms of total coal consumption, 15 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
