Total coal consumption rose 32.3% to 793 kt in Nepal in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, total coal consumption in Nepal reached an all time high of 793 kt in 2015 and an all time low of 14.3 kt in 1990. When compared to Nepal's main peers, total coal consumption in Bangladesh amounted to 2,207 kt, 87.9 kt in Bhutan, 4,376,326 kt in China and 879,608 kt in India in 2015.
