Total coal consumption rose 2.18% to 146,301 kt in South Korea in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, total coal consumption in South Korea reached an all time high of 146,301 kt in 2015 and an all time low of 30,766 kt in 1980. When compared to South Korea's main peers, total coal consumption in China amounted to 4,376,326 kt, 17,927 kt in Dem. People's Republic of Korea, 210,734 kt in Japan and 41,650 kt in Vietnam in 2015.
