Historically, total coal consumption in Mongolia reached an all time high of 9,824 kt in 2015 and an all time low of 4,783 kt in 1981. When compared to Mongolia's main peers, total coal consumption in China amounted to 4,376,326 kt, 86,882 kt in Kazakhstan, 3,159 kt in Kyrgyzstan and 228,176 kt in Russia in 2015.
