Historically, total coal consumption in Malaysia reached an all time high of 27,770 kt in 2012 and an all time low of 88.2 kt in 1980. When compared to Malaysia's main peers, total coal consumption in Cambodia amounted to 763 kt, 725 kt in Singapore, 37,443 kt in Thailand and 41,650 kt in Vietnam in 2015.
