Historically, total coal consumption in Hungary reached an all time high of 32,642 kt in 1982 and an all time low of 11,656 kt in 2009. When compared to Hungary's main peers, total coal consumption in Austria amounted to 4,147 kt, 49,909 kt in Czech Republic, 148,717 kt in Poland and 7,014 kt in Slovakia in 2015.
