Historically, rural population as a share of total population in Uzbekistan reached an all time high of 66.0% in 1960 and an all time low of 48.9% in 2011. When compared to Uzbekistan's main peers, rural population as a share of total population in Kazakhstan amounted to 41.6%, 61.8% in Kyrgyzstan, 71.5% in Tajikistan and 45.5% in Turkmenistan in 2024.
