Price of cigarettes as a percentage of average U.S. price rose 3.42% to 21.0% in Madagascar in 2016, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, price of cigarettes as a percentage of average U.S. price in Madagascar reached an all time high of 21.0% in 2016 and an all time low of 14.5% in 2012. When compared to Madagascar's main peers, price of cigarettes as a percentage of average U.S. price in Mozambique amounted to 7.93%, 36.2% in South Africa, 39.5% in Swaziland and 21.5% in Tanzania in 2016.
