Population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population rose 1.60% to 15.6% in Zambia in 2024, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Zambia reached an all time high of 15.6% in 2024 and an all time low of 2.88% in 1960. When compared to Zambia's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Angola amounted to 25.5%, 13.9% in Tanzania, 9.64% in Zimbabwe and 24.0% in Dem.
