Population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population rose 1.08% to 19.9% in Pakistan in 2024, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Pakistan reached an all time high of 19.9% in 2024 and an all time low of 11.3% in 1960. When compared to Pakistan's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Afghanistan amounted to 11.1%, 32.0% in China, 16.7% in India and 25.2% in Iran in 2024.
