Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Malaysia reached an all time high of 24.8% in 2024 and an all time low of 4.32% in 1960. When compared to Malaysia's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Cambodia amounted to 13.3%, 100% in Singapore, 21.4% in Thailand and 19.5% in Vietnam in 2024.
