Population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population fell 2.90% to 31.7% in Oman in 2024, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Oman reached an all time high of 35.3% in 2021 and an all time low of 2.60% in 1960. When compared to Oman's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Iran amounted to 25.2%, 50.7% in Saudi Arabia, 59.9% in United Arab Emirates and 8.40% in Yemen in 2024.
