Population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population fell 0.010% to 20.0% in Bulgaria in 2024, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Bulgaria reached an all time high of 20.0% in 2023 and an all time low of 9.00% in 1960. When compared to Bulgaria's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million as a share of population in Greece amounted to 30.4%, 9.27% in Romania, 21.4% in Serbia and 38.9% in Turkey in 2024.
