Number of manufactured cigarettes sold per capita of 15+ years old fell 2.61% to 1,370 per year in Italy in 2016, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, number of manufactured cigarettes sold per capita of 15+ years old in Italy reached an all time high of 2,307 per year in 1985 and an all time low of 1,283 per year in 1960. When compared to Italy's main peers, number of manufactured cigarettes sold per capita of 15+ years old in Austria amounted to 1,723 per year, 841 per year in France, 1,998 per year in Slovenia and 1,340 per year in Switzerland in 2016.
