Historically, motor vehicles per 1,000 people in Romania reached an all time high of 281 vehicles in 2015 and an all time low of 76.2 vehicles in 1991. When compared to Romania's main peers, motor vehicles per 1,000 people in Bulgaria amounted to 514 vehicles, 378 vehicles in Hungary, 210 vehicles in Moldova and 206 vehicles in Ukraine in 2015.
