Historically, lignite coal production in Bulgaria reached an all time high of 40,907 kt in 2011 and an all time low of 27,212 kt in 2005. When compared to Bulgaria's main peers, lignite coal production in Greece amounted to 50,977 kt, 28,090 kt in Romania, 41,696 kt in Serbia and 46,297 kt in Turkey in 2015.
