Historically, life expectancy for both sexes in Vietnam reached an all time high of 76.8 years in 2024 and an all time low of 53.1 years in 1972. When compared to Vietnam's main peers, life expectancy for both sexes in Cambodia amounted to 73.8 years, 76.2 years in China, 70.6 years in Laos and 75.4 years in Thailand in 2024.
Vietnam has been ranked 55th within the group of 174 countries we follow in terms of life expectancy for both sexes, 27 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
