Historically, expenditure of international tourism in Nicaragua reached an all time high of USD 365 mil in 2017 and an all time low of USD 56.0 mil in 1995. When compared to Nicaragua's main peers, expenditure of international tourism in Costa Rica amounted to USD 697 mil, USD 162 mil in El Salvador, USD 230 mil in Honduras and USD 4,286 mil in Mexico in 2020.
Nicaragua has been ranked 105th within the group of 123 countries we follow in terms of expenditure of international tourism, 16 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
