Hard coal production rose 5.97% to 82.9 kt in Malawi in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, hard coal production in Malawi reached an all time high of 86.8 kt in 2000 and an all time low of 49.6 kt in 2005. When compared to Malawi's main peers, hard coal production in Mozambique amounted to 1,998 kt, 253,627 kt in South Africa, 282 kt in Tanzania and 220 kt in Zambia in 2015.
