Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Kenya reached an all time high of 74.6% in 1974 and an all time low of 27.2% in 2020. When compared to Kenya's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Ethiopia amounted to 17.3%, 94.4% in Somalia, 41.5% in Tanzania and 41.5% in Uganda in 2024.
