Foreign debt rose 8.54% to USD 9,968 bil in Nepal in 2023, according to the National Statistical Office.
Historically, foreign debt in Nepal reached an all time high of USD 9,968 bil in 2023 and an all time low of USD 3.80 bil in 1970. When compared to Nepal's main peers, foreign debt in Bangladesh amounted to USD 101,447 bil, USD 3,269 bil in Bhutan, USD 2,420,211 bil in China and USD 646,787 bil in India in 2023.
Nepal has been ranked 70th within the group of 110 countries we follow in terms of foreign debt, 13 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
