Historically, foreign debt in Tanzania reached an all time high of USD 34,598 bil in 2023 and an all time low of USD 197 bil in 1970. When compared to Tanzania's main peers, foreign debt in Kenya amounted to USD 42,910 bil, USD 66,848 bil in Mozambique, USD 19,393 bil in Uganda and USD 29,029 bil in Zambia in 2023.
