Historically, crude death rate per 1,000 people in Nigeria reached an all time high of 26.2 deaths in 1960 and an all time low of 11.6 deaths in 2024. When compared to Nigeria's main peers, crude death rate per 1,000 people in Benin amounted to 8.82 deaths, 10.2 deaths in Cameroon, 12.4 deaths in Chad and 9.22 deaths in Niger in 2024.
Nigeria has been ranked 27th within the group of 174 countries we follow in terms of crude death rate per 1,000 people, 19 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
