Historically, crude birth rate per 1,000 people in Sri Lanka reached an all time high of 36.3 births in 1960 and an all time low of 11.2 births in 2023. When compared to Sri Lanka's main peers, crude birth rate per 1,000 people in India amounted to 15.7 births, 13.6 births in Malaysia, 15.2 births in Maldives and 12.4 births in Myanmar in 2024.
