Historically, coal consumption as a share of worldwide consumption in the European Union reached an all time high of 0.324% in 1980 and an all time low of 0.087% in 2014. When compared to European Union's main peers, coal consumption as a share of worldwide consumption in China amounted to 0.513%, 0.025% in Japan, 0.027% in Russia and 0.094% in USA in 2015.
