Cigarette consumption per capita fell 1.90% to 941 per year in Germany in 2016, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, cigarette consumption per capita in Germany reached an all time high of 2,007 per year in 1990 and an all time low of 344 per year in 1950. When compared to Germany's main peers, cigarette consumption per capita in Austria amounted to 1,446 per year, 916 per year in Belgium, 685 per year in France and 915 per year in Poland in 2016.
