Historically, chemical wood pulp production in the European Union reached an all time high of 27,603 kt in 2006 and an all time low of 8,783 kt in 1961. When compared to European Union's main peers, chemical wood pulp production in China amounted to 7,089,000 kt, 8,132,000 kt in Japan, 5,325,000 kt in Russia and 42,110,000 kt in USA in 2015.
