Historically, alcoholic beverage consumption per capita in Sri Lanka reached an all time high of 0.780 litres in 1978 and an all time low of 0.100 litres in 2021. When compared to Sri Lanka's main peers, alcoholic beverage consumption per capita in India amounted to 1.94 litres, 0.270 litres in Malaysia, 1.43 litres in Maldives and 0.370 litres in Myanmar in 2021.
